WASP 2013 - Woody Allen Feature on the Riviera

One day in the Riveria Times, Jane spotted an announcement that there would be a "casting call" for extras, for the Woody Allen film being shot on the Riviera. After she convinced me that this would be fun, we decided to go along to the Riviera Studios in Nice one morning in June to attend the casting call.

We were early and were processed very quickly - details and photographs taken and that was that. Later that month, Jane received a call that she was selected and needed to come back to the studio on 2 July for wardrobe selection.... Stephan unfortunately was not selected...

On the appointed day, we took the train to St Augustine and showed up for the "essayage" for Jane to be outfitted for her roll (attending the opera), and low and behold they remembered Stephan from the casting call (it must have been that bow tie), and askied if he would like to participate as well.... Thus two stars were born!!!!

Well the shoot day arrived and we were off to the Nice Opera House...only to notice, that it had been turned into the Berlin Theatre!!!

We arrived at 1:30 PM and went into wardrobe, then make-up and came out looking like elegrant characters from the 20's. Jane looked great in her outfit and could have wandered right off to a party at Jay Gatsby's house... i guess i might have been able to go as well. Then we waited, as you usually do on film sets until they were ready for the big audience shots.

Then our big break...we were selected with 6 other folks (from among the 200 people dressed and ready) to also participate in the "Loge Scene." Initially we were pretty pleased, but had no idea what this would entail but felt pretty sure it was a good thing...and it was as there is now a very good chance we will be in the film and be seen. It was a separte shot of the balconies, and the one right adjacant to ours contained one of the principals to be shot.... and we should be in the shot as well.... at least Jane will be as she was fairly close to him.

After our big "starring " roles, it was back to more general audience stuff and then sound recording.

We would have liked to have more pix, but they were strictly forbidden.

We finally were done at around 10 PM, and were exhausted. We had a wonderful time and now are looking to do it again if possible.
